Watercolored Sunflowers #18 AAA Cards

AAA Cards Game 18
Play with Watercolors

I can't believe it's game #18 at AAA Cards already and we're playing with watercoloring some more! I'm still getting acquainted with the technique and have not moved to paints yet. So today I've used an outline stamp (as opposed to a solid image stamp). With Distress Inks applied directly to the stamp in the colors you see - onto watercolor paper. Again I'm using the aqua brush to push the colors inward from the edge to fill in the the image colors. This is quick and easy. Why make it difficult if time is limited? The sunflowers are hanging on and still beautiful here in New England. Soon it will be the reds, burnt orange and browns of fall.

Golf Course FMS 151

 Freshly Made Sketches 151

I always need masculine cards and wanted to use up some stickers from several golf packages. This sketch is perfect for any style, and I will use it again. To achieve the grass mound I used Lil' Inker Anytime tag die along with the stitched mats rectangles. The birds are from WPlus9 Dockside set and the sentiment is by Gourmet rubber stamps.

A Vellum Thank You

 Old Calypso Lagoon

For the color challenge over at Splitcoaststampers the hostess presented us with the colors

OLD OLIVE, CALYPSO CORAL, LOST LAGOON

I stamped in versamark onto vellum and heat embossed the image. At first this was not one of my favorite stamps and so I wanted to try some -close-to-the- colors above on the back side of the embossed vellum floral image. I tore the bottom edge for no specific reason and tied some lightweight ribbon with wire from Michaels around the front. I actually like the way this one turned out.

Yellow Daisies AAA Cards #17

AAA Cards - Game #17 CREATE with Stenciling

I have so many different types of stencils in my crafting stash. Metal, plastic, dry embossing stencils and who knows what else. These daisies are from one that I did not know that I had! I thought the image was perfect for this time of year. I sponged with Distress Inks in mustard seed, fired brick and peeled paint. I'm pretending that they are sunflower look-a-likes. The sunflowers are in full bloom here in New England and just glorious! The gingham ribbon gives them a country feel.

A Card Concept Celebration! #17

Good morning all! I am so thrilled and excited to be a new Design Team member for
My assignment is  'Classy & Elegant' designs.  I’ll be trying my best to make my creations simply classy and elegant. Thank you, Lesley Croghan, for the honor of having me on the Team!

The inspiration photo looks like a celebration to me. Fresh clean bedding and a bright cheerful pop of color with the white is wonderful. I made my card to celebrate anything that makes someone happy; weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and for me a good night's rest.

I looked for anything in my stash that reminded me of the pattern of the big blossom. I've used a Spellbinders Lotus pendant die cut under the panel with a similar pattern. The small bouquet is added to make the clean simplicity in the photo into classic elegance.

Make sure you stop by The Card Concept to check out what the design team's presenting and to add yours as well!

Watercolored Hollyhocks AAA Cards Game 14

It's BACK! Creating with watercolor techniques sure is fun. This week I've used Derwent Inktense water soluble ink pencils. I die cut the hollyhocks out of watercolor paper and partially colored areas of the blooms. I use the aqua brush to move the colors around for blending. When I was finished with the sections I flicked the brush on the card base. Let's call it hollyhock pollen. Anyway, it was fun.

I hope you join us at AAA Cards this week for some watercoloring too!
